Doris "Grandma" Ellen Monahan, 77, of Broadway Ave, Midland died Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV.
Born on December 30, 1935 in Midland she was the daughter of the late Floyd Raynor and Naomi (Broadwater) Raynor.
She was preceded in death by her husband John "Jack" Monahan on January 3, 1980 and two brothers, Billy and Harold Raynor.
Her Midland friends were her extended family and she was their "Grandma". Almost everyone who knew Doris called her "Grandma". In the tight knit community of Midland she will be forever remembered that special way.
She is survived by her children, Charlie Raynor and wife Janie of Hyndman, PA, Ellis "Bump" Raynor and wife Joyce, John Monahan and wife Rochelle and Alona Monahan all of Midland; twelve grandchildren, Joe and Arissa Monahan, J.R., Daniel and Lauren Monahan, Candi Blair and Katlyn Raynor, Penny Fresh, Robin Sarver, Doris Holiday, Chucky Raynor and Becky Nicol; fourteen great-grandchildren, Lara, Emma and Beca Monahan, Alex Blair, Hannah and C.J. Sarver, Amanda and Tosha Fresh, Benjamin Nicol and Cole Holiday, Preston Raynor and Emily, Gilbert and Gabrielle Nicol; two great-great-grandchildren, Jayla, Briauna and one more baby girl on the way; one brother, Raymond Raynor; two sisters, Shirley and Ruth Loudermilk and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Midland on Sunday, October 20, 2013 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held at the Trinity Assembly of God, Midlothian on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 3:00 PM with Pastor Rob Culler officiating. Interment will be held at St. Josephs Catholic Cemetery, Midland.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be sent in c/o John Monahan at 14800 Railroad St, Midland, MD 21532 to help defray the cost of a monument to be placed at St. Josephs Catholic Cemetery for "Grandma" and "Jack".
Pallbearers will be Daniel Monahan, Joe Monahan, J.R. Monahan, Corey Gatian, Robert Blair and Thorn Alexander. Honorary Pallbearers will be baby Alex Blair and Jimmy Reno. "Grandma" battled with breast cancer and in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness the pallbearers will be wearing pink shirts.
