Donald W. Parker, 87, of Midland died Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Frostburg Village Nursing Home. Born on January 18, 1927 in Cumberland he was a son of the late William F. Parker and Virginia M. (Maloney) Parker.
He is preceded in death by one brother, Delphin, and one sister, Margaret.
Don was a retired sales representative for Nabisco with 40 years of service. He was past president of Midland Fire Company with 50 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and a member of the former Lonaconing VFW and Frostburg American Legion. He was also a member of the Midland Sportsman Club, and past president of the Frostburg Men's Shuffleboard League. Don was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Midland.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean L. (Shillingburg) Parker; two sons, Robert Keith Parker and wife Elaine of Westfield, IN and Steven William Parker and wife Cheryl of Carlos, MD; one grandson, Taylor Parker of Carlos, MD and two granddaughters, Keisha Parker of Las Vegas, NV, and Amber Parker of Charleston, SC; two great-grandchildren Rilyn and Kylee Hoffman and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Midland on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 from 6-8PM. A memorial service will be held by Midland Fire Company at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Rev. George Harpold officiating. Interment will be held and Mt. View Cemetery, Moscow Mills, MD. Military Rites will be accorded by Farrady Post #24 American Legion, Frostburg, MD.
