Daniel Edward Shockey, 28, of Lower Georges Creek Road, Lonaconing died Sunday, November 13, 2016. Born on October 3, 1988 in Cumberland he was the son of Marvin “Huck” Shockey of Lonaconing and Gail (Jones) Platter and step-father Ron of Frostburg.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Ellen Shockey, Isabel and Dan Jones and step-grandparents Elroy and Marie Platter.
Dan was a 2006 graduate of Westmar High School and the Center for Career and Technical Education and worked as a heavy equipment operator for Waste Management. He enjoyed contributing to and participating in the Western Allegany Model Railroad Display.
Together with his parents he is also survived by his son, Lane Daniel Shockey; a sister, Mandy Buckholtz and husband Ed; a nephew, Cameron Buckholtz; three step-brothers, Kenny Platter, Gary Platter and Jim Kerchner; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and his special companion, his dog, Remi. He is also survived by three special friends Jesse Nightengale, Jarad Marsh and Brant Coleman.
Family and friends will be received at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Midland on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 11:00AM with Pastor Jim Jeffries officiating. Interment will be held at Frostburg Memorial Park.
