Clarence Eldred Valentine, 88, of West Main Street, Lonaconing died Friday, April 30, 2010 at the Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, Lonaconing. Born in Trego, MD on December 23, 1921 he was the son of the late John Sylvester Valentine and Virginia (Miller) Valentine.
He was preceded in death by one brother, John Harold Valentine.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lonaconing. A WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Army as an Intelligence Agent in Europe. He graduated from Hagerstown High School and went on to attend and graduate from Washington College in Chestertown, MD and the University of Maryland, College Park. He worked for the Baltimore County Board of Education, serving thirty years as principle within six different schools. After his thirty years as principle he went on to pursue an AA degree and R.N. with a Geriatric Major from Essex County Community College, Baltimore. He then continued his work once as an attendant and now as an R.N. at Stella Maris, Timonium from 1979-1988. He was devoted to scouting as a youth and earned his eagle badge which considered his most important career related experience.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor (Miller) Valentine; one daughter, Mary Lisa Valentine of Sparks, MD; two grandchildren, Bailey Sager and Morgan Sager both of Sparks, MD and one sister, Doris Valentine McConnell of Maugansville, MD.
Family and Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home P.A., Lonaconing on Monday, May 3, 2010 from 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Deacon Willard F. Passauer II officiating. Interment will be held at Frostburg Memorial Park, Frostburg, MD.
