Charles Edward Beeman, Sr., 90, of Frostburg went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, Lonaconing. Born in Gilmore on March 6, 1924 he was the son of the late Hugh Beeman and Ellen (Thompson) Beeman. He grew up on the Beeman farm in Barton.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Phyllis in 1995, second wife Cleo in 2008, one son, Jeff and three siblings, Hazel Kroll, Huglene Cameron and Marie Nicol.
He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII with the 9th Infantry Division. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and the Liberation of Dachau Concentration Camp. He was a member of Farrady Post #24 American Legion, Frostburg, MD and a former member of Alvin C. Neat Post #5280 V.F.W., Lonaconing, MD.
He worked for Celanese Fiber Corporation for 43 years. He enjoyed his lawn care business and taking care of hundreds of cemetery lots. He always helped others and was a friend to all that knew him. He served the Lord at First Assembly of God Church in Lonaconing and the Bethel Holiness Church, Lonaconing. He never knew a stranger.
He is survived by his six children, Darlene and Michael Stark of Laurel, Judy and Larry Ritchie of Gilmore, Chuck and Nancy Beeman of Gilmore, Phil Beeman of Frostburg, Duane Beeman and Melanie Llewellyn of Midland and Randy Beeman of Gilmore; nineteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two siblings, Hugh and Kathy Beeman of Cumberland and Delores and Don Crawford of Tennessee and numerous nieces and nephews including a special nephew who was like a brother to him, Clifford Preston.
Family and friends will be received at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing on Monday, February 9, 2015 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Assembly of God, Midlothian with Rev. Robert Culler and Rev. Charles Winebrenner officiating.Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Frostburg Memorial Park. Military Rites will be accorded by Farrady Post #24 American Legion, Frostburg, MD
