Catherine Meyers

Catherine T. Meyers, born July 19, 1922 to Catherine Douglas and George Augustus Meyers, a life long resident at her Main Street residence in Lonaconing, died Friday, March 2, 2012 at age 89 at Frostburg Village Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her twin Vincent, brothers George, John and Joe and her sister, Mary Meyers.

Catherine graduated from Central High School in the class of 1941. Upon graduation she was employed by the Celanese Corporation of America and ended her working career as a nurses aide at the Allegany County Infirmary.

She was a communicant at St. Mary's of the Annunciation Catholic Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She was an avid bingo player and one of her favorite pastimes was reading books pertaining to the game of baseball. Catherine was an active member of the Central High School Alumnae Association, attending monthly luncheons with other members of her class.

Surviving are her brothers, F. de Sales Meyers of Baltimore and Michael C. Meyers of Westminster and many nieces, nephews and great nephews.

Family and Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home P.A. ( www.eichhornmckenzie.com ), Lonaconing on Monday, March 5, 2012 from 7-9PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 11:00AM at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Midland with Father Eric Gauchat, OFM, Cap, celebrant. Interment will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Lonaconing.
