Bonnie Shearer

February 8, 1938 — July 2, 2011

Bonnie Jean (Thrasher) Shearer of Bradenton, Florida, went home to be with the Lord and join her son and daughter and her parents, on Saturday, July 2, 2011 in Frederick, Maryland, after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her children; son, Charles Francis Shearer, Jr. and daughter, Cheryl Lynn Worden. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Charles “Fran” Shearer.
Born February 8, 1938 in Midland, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late James Richard Thrasher and Mary Elizabeth Thrasher. She is survived by grandchildren; Angie Duckworth and husband Matt, Janel Young and husband Reggie, Jonathan Worden, Connie Murray, Bobbie Jo Shearer, and son-in-law, John Worden. She is also survived by a great-grandsons, Quentin Duckworth and Ethan Shearer and great-granddaughters, Gracie Murray, McKenna Livingston and McKenzie Livingston. She is also survived by two sisters, Patricia Morton and Rosee Blubaugh and many friends and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her brothers, James R. Thrasher, Jr and Donald Bruce Thrasher.
Bonnie graduated from Somerset High School in Somerset, PA and went on to get a degree in nursing from Cumberland Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Cumberland, Maryland. She then received her AA degree from Allegany Community College and a BS and MS degree in nursing from Tampa University in Tampa, Florida. She had a long career in nursing as a supervisor, home care nurse, ICU and cardiac unit nurse. She was a member of the Nursing Association. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Midland, Maryland for over 60 years. Prior to her illness she was active in the motorcycle club in Florida and traveled across the United States and Canada with her husband by motorcycle. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and for her loving personality and a lifelong career of helping other people.
A memorial service will be held at Grace United Methodist Church in Midland, Maryland on July 7, 2011 at 1:00 P.M with Rev. Harry Burchell and Dr. J. Blaine Blubaugh officiating. Burial will be private. Arrangements handled by Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Midland (www.eichhornmckenzie.com).
