Billy Junior Powell Sr., 90, of Lower Georges Creek Road, died Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing. Born on March 26, 1932 in Lonaconing he was the son of the late Edward Francis Powell and Esther Rebecca (Robertson) Powell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lee Powell, a sister, Betty Powell and a grandson, Adam Thomas.
Billy was a graduate of Central High School and attended Catherman's Business School. He opened Powell’s Service Station in 1955 and ran a towing service, two car washes and an auto parts store and later a convenience store. He also owned the Coney East End Bar. He was a very hard-working man. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias, Rising Sun Lodge #86, Lonaconing.
He is survived by his children, Billy Powell Jr. (Susan), Rick Powell, Scott Powell (Roxanne Rowe), Tracy Thomas and Ruppert Riley; five grandchildren, Shanna Powell, Jesse Powell (Brittany), Lydia Powell, Sadie Powell, Codi Sines (Josh); two great-grandchildren, Isabell Peirce and Easton Sines and special niece, Molly Lawrence (Mark) and their children, Madison and Maxwell.
Services will be held privately at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing with Deacon Harold Bradley officiating and interment will be held at Frostburg Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank all of his loyal customers over the years and Egle Nursing Home for the care they provided to him.
