Betty M. Shockey, 89, of Charlestown Road, Lonaconing died Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Frostburg Village Nursing Home. Born on August 2, 1925 in Lonaconing she was the daughter of the late Roy S. Beeman and Bethea (Brown) Beeman.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, James Edward Shockey in 1972, a granddaughter, Sarah Jean Shockey and her eight brothers and sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Betty was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lonaconing. She was also a member of Morning Star Temple #1 Pythian Sisters, Lonaconing and the Senior Citizens of George's Creek. She retired from Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing where she worked as a cook.
She is survived by her two sons, James S. Shockey and wife Brenda of Lonaconing and Steven Shockey and wife Lois also of Lonaconing; five grandchildren, Julie, Jennifer, Jaime Lynn, James Edward and Steven Adam; ten great-grandchildren, Jessica Rose, Amanda Sue, Samuel James, Anthony James, Meredith, Alex, Lyrica, Savannah, Samantha and Ayden; one great-great-granddaughter, Alyvia Rose and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family sends a special thank you to John Clark and John Clark, Jr. for their sincere care and concern for Betty.
At Betty's request there will be no services. Interment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery. Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing handled the arrangements.
