Austin Green, 77, of Avilton Lonaconing Road in beautiful Garrett County, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.
Austin was born October 1, 1937. He was the son of the late Chester E. Green and Ruth Viola Ravenscroft Green.
Austin was a member of the George’s Creek Church of the Brethren, Lonaconing. He graduated from Valley High School in 1956. After graduation he went to work at Bethlehem Steel in Baltimore. From there he went to Cleveland, Ohio where he worked for Gabriel Shock Absorbers. Most recently he worked as mechanic at the Mt. Storm Power Plant.
Austin was a Senior Electrical Design Draftsman by trade. He had attended schools on welding 1&2 hydraulics, pipe fitting and mechanical work. He had also works as a heavy equipment operator and had heavy equipment of his own.
His grandkids were the light of his life, he loved them very much. He enjoyed boxing and attending the toughman contests. He also loved horses. In his spare time like to play poker and throw horseshoes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, his sister, Shirley Bittner and mother-in-law, Dorothy Simpson Elliott.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rosalee Simpson Green; two sons, Kevin Austin Green and wife Carol of Lonaconing and Kirk Douglas Green and wife Lynn of Lonaconing; three grandsons, Cole Green and Ashley Shaw of Lonaconing, Jesse Green and Max Green and Jan Burges; one brother, Ronnie Green and wife Doris of Mineral, VA and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing on Sunday, March 1, 2015 from 1-3PM and 5-7PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Charles Winebrenner and Pastor Lisa Upole officiating. Inurnment will be held at Green Cemetery, Garrett County.
