Anna Jenkins

Anna "Ann" Anita Jenkins, 135 North Mechanic St., Cumberland, MD passed away Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the Frostburg Village Nursing Home, Frostburg.

Born November 16, 1926 in Frostburg, MD, she was the daughter of the late David E. Thomas, Sr. and Mary Ann (Thomas) Thomas. She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Bryan Keith Jenkins in 2004 and Stephen Odell Jenkins in 1981, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.

Ann retired as office manager at Stroehmann Bakers in March 1986. She had been a volunteer at Scared Heart Hospital serving the out patient, medical oncology and same day surgery departments. Ann served many offices and provided many volunteer hours to the JFK Building where she resided for many years. She was a past president of the resident council, treasurer, first responder on the emergency response team, coordinator of the Government Commodities Food Program and coordinator of many special picnic and dinner events.

Survivors are her daughter Bonita "Bonnie" Cook of Cumberland, 2 grandchildren Cheyenne Nicole Jenkins and Stephanie Belle Jenkins of Lonaconing, sister-in-law Maggie Thomas of Trenton, FL and a special niece Sue Clise and her family of Midland.

Ann donated her body to the Anatomy Board of Maryland for medical research.
