Alexander Mcalpine

Alexander “Cue” McAlpine, 65 of Watercliff Street went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 15, 2019 surrounded by his family at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland. Born on April 3, 1953 in Frostburg he was the son of the late Ike McAlpine and Anna (Hausrath) McAlpine.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law George and Corkey Kelly who treated Cue as their own and several siblings.

Cue was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing.  A 1971 graduate of Valley High School, he retired from Verso.  He was a lifetime member of the Good Will Volunteer Fire Department #1 Lonaconing with 45 years of dedicated service.  He was also a member of the Shady Meadows Trout Fishing Club and was known as the groundskeeper for the Lonaconing Little League.  Cue was an avid fisherman and will be remembered for his sense of humor.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years in April and high school sweetheart Jane Ann McAlpine; three children Alexa Pattison and husband Bobby of Frostburg, Brian McAlpine and wife Teri of Lonaconing and Beth Hershey and husband Joshua of LaVale; ten grandchildren Jeremy Raines and wife Ashley, Jayna Raines, Loren McAlpine, Nikki Hershey, Landon McAlpine, Zander Hershey, Layla Pattison, Konnar Pattison, JD Hershey and Caleb Hershey; sisters Mary and Carolyn; sister-in-law Rose Marie; canine companion Stubby; numerous nieces and nephews; best friend Peck Nicol and many other special friends, far too many to name.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, March 17, 2019 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at Wilhelm-Eakin Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing. A memorial service will be held by the Good Will Vol. Fire Dept. #1 and the Ladies Auxiliary at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 18, 2019 at 11:00 at the funeral home with Rev. Thomas Morgan and Pastor Shawn Shumaker officiating. Interment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lonaconing.

Pallbearers will be Peck Nicol, Joe Inskeep, Kevin “Tigger” Llewellyn, Kirk Green, John Shockey Sr. and Chuck Crawford.
